Crochet Tabby Cat

March 07, 2023 17 Comments
Welcome to the March Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of the Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop (hosted by Julie @ Sum of Their Stories) is to create a sustainable/eco-friendly craft project. This month's theme is Soft, so I decided to crochet a tabby cat using really soft chenille yarn. Both of my kiddos like stuffed animals, especially cats, and sometimes instead of buying stuffed animals, I'll make them. I have noticed that my children (especially my daughter) are kinda rough with their stuffed animals. Sometimes the same day they get their new stuffed friend, they'll come to me asking me to fix a hole in it. Like, already!? But I've found that the stuffed animals I crochet for them, don't end up with holes or other injuries. 😁 I'm not sure if it's because I take extra care to ensure that the toy is very sturdy or if my kids are a little gentler with the toy because they know Mommy made it. 🤷

Black and White Bohasaurus

May 09, 2022 15 Comments
Welcome to the Dollar Store Craft Challenge! Several of my blogging friends and I have each created a project using items from the Dollar Store.  For this challenge, I'm sharing a black and white dinosaur I crocheted with yarn purchased from my local Dollar Tree. It was a really fun and quick project I made using the Bohasaurus pattern by Mama Made Minis. The Bohasaurus is a mix between a stuffed toy and a lovey blanket, so only the head and tail are stuffed. The body is not stuffed making it extra cuddly like a blanket.

Valentines Day Robot Gumball Machine (Dollar Tree Craft)

January 20, 2022 5 Comments
Valentine's Day is less than a month away, so I've made a few Valentine's Day creations. I recently shared a Valentine's Day Wreath that's on my front door, and now I have a Valentine's Day Robot Gumball Machine in my craft room. I've been wanting to create a gumball machine style project for a while, and I'm so glad to finally get around to it. So I venture to Dollar Tree to see what Valentine's Day craft supplies I could find for this project, and boy oh boy did they have a lot of Valentine's Day decor, craft kits, flowers, and other supplies.

Dog Man Book Character Parade Costume

November 11, 2019 7 Comments
It's time for the Dollar Store Craft Challenge! I've joined with several of my blogging friends for the November Dollar Store Craft Challenge, and we've each created a project using items from the Dollar Store.  For this challenge, I'm sharing a Dog Man inspired outfit I put together for my daughter to wear during the Book Character Parade at her school. Each quarter the students have an Accelerated Reader goal, and if they meet that goal, they get to dress up as their favorite book character and participate in the parade around the school. So my daughter reached her Accelerated Reader goal, and she asked to dress up as Bark Knight from the Dog Man books. I thought it would be a cool idea to crochet a hat as part of the costume, and I knew she'd need a cape and a shirt like Bark Knight. I used yarn already in my massive stash to create the hat, and I ventured off to the local dollar store to see what I could find to create a shirt. Since it was just before Halloween, I knew the local Dollar Tree had superhero capes.

Beach Please Hat Wreath

May 28, 2019 14 Comments
My blogging friends and I have decided to create crafts using supplies from the dollar store, and we're hosting a Dollar Store Craft Link Party so you can also share your dollar store crafts! So I decided that it was time to make a new wreath for our front door. So I went to the Dollar Tree to collect some supplies. I like the idea of using a hat as a wreath, and I remember seeing a hat-shaped Betsey Johnson purse with the phrase "Beach Please" on it. So I bought a sun hat and other items from the Dollar Tree to create my hat wreath.

The Dollar Tree is a great place to find fun and affordable Halloween decor and Halloween craft supplies. I enjoy making holiday and seasonal wreaths, and I often gather my supplies from the Dollar Tree.  I decided to make a fun witchy Halloween wreath using flowers, a witch hat, skeletons, a Halloween sign, and a spooky raven all from the Dollar Tree.

Floral Pumpkin Wreath

September 17, 2018 24 Comments
The first day of Fall is just around the corner, so I've been making Fall wreaths for the house. I recently created a Floral Candy Corn Wreath, and I had a bunch of flowers left over from that project and other candy corn inspired crafts, so I decided to use up those flowers by making another floral wreath. All the flowers for this wreath came from the Dollar Tree, so this is a Dollar Tree Craft! 😄

Dollar Tree Fedora Wreath

June 11, 2018 24 Comments
One year for Father's Day, I created a "wreath" using a fedora and ties purchased from the Dollar Tree. Originally, I planned to make a wreath using ties to hang on our front door for Father's Day.  So I went to the Dollar Tree in search of some ties, and I found them, but I also found a fedora.  My husband loves fedoras.  He has one, and he calls it his old man hat. So I decided to use the ties to make flowers to decorate the hat, and to hang the hat on the door like a wreath.

Wire Hat Stands

September 11, 2017 12 Comments
The Dollar Store (Tree) is one of my favorite stores to shop for everything from craft supplies, coloring books, holiday decor, holiday and birthday cards, and even cleaning supplies!  So I've joined some of my blogging friends for a Dollar Store Craft Challenge.  Each of us is sharing a project we created using items from the Dollar Store. After reading my post, I hope you'll stop by to see what amazing Dollar Store crafts my friends are sharing today. You can find the links to their blogs are the end of this post.

So last fall, a friend and I shared a craft booth at our first craft fair. She knits, and I crochet. I was nervous about my first craft fair, so it was great to share a booth with a buddy. I learned that there's so much that goes into preparing for a craft fair other than creating your products. You need a table cloth, signage, business cards, a cash box, a card reader, props to display your items, and more. One of the main crafts that I was featuring were my Seahawks [inspired] Crochet Hats. A couple days before the craft fair, I realized that I only had ONE baby sized hat stand. Oh no!  I wanted two more.

Dollar Tree Valentines Day Snowman Wreath Tutorial (& Valentines Link Party)

I only made two resolutions for 2017, and they go hand in hand. First, I want to spend less and save more. Secondly, I'm not allowed to yarn until maybe my birthday, which is at the end of May. So with those resolutions in mind, the Dollar Tree is a great place to purchase craft supplies. All the supplies I used to make this snowman wreath were purchased from the Dollar Tree. Yes, even the yarn was purchased at the Dollar Tree. Yes, they have yarn! The yarn I used to crochet the snowman's hat and scarf are Red Heart Boutique Sashay Sparkle in Red Hot and Midas. I believe I found them there around Christmas time. But, I've also seen the Fun Fur yarns, Bernat holiday yarn, and Caron Simply Soft at the Dollar Tree for ONE DOLLAR!

Silver & Gold Mini Christmas Wreath

December 19, 2016 2 Comments
When Christmas time rolls round, I enjoy decorating my home and getting in the Christmas spirit. I love making wreaths, and when it's Christmas time, I don't just make one Christmas wreath for the front door, I make at least two or three to display inside our home. I'm always revamping old wreaths, so this year, I made some changed to my Silver and Gold Mini Christmas Wreath.

Olaf Trick-Or-Treat Bucket

September 30, 2016 2 Comments
This year my daughter decided she wants to be Princess Anna for Halloween. So I found her a Princess Anna costume, crocheted a hat and cape, and dug out her Olaf Trick-or-Treat Bucket from last Halloween. Last year, she used this bucket when she dressed up as Queen Elsa of Arendale.

Crochet Candy Corn Wreath

September 17, 2016 12 Comments
Several years ago, I made a wreath for my mom featuring crocheted candy corn and lots of white, orange, and yellow flowers. The wreath I made for her has always been one of my favorite wreath creations, and I finally got around to making one for myself.

Frozen Puzzle Gallery Wall

January 16, 2016 1 Comments
We've been in our home since November, but I am still tweaking the decor. This week I created a Frozen gallery wall in my daughter's room using Frozen puzzles I purchased from the Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx, and Ross (my favorite stores). I considered framing the puzzles, but they'll all very odd sizes, so I wouldn't be able to buy frames. Instead, I decided to frame them using sticks. So while at a couple playgrounds, I picked up a bunch of sticks... and a tree branch!
