Golden Retriever Scarves

May 24, 2026 2 Comments
My first couple projects of 2026 were created in memory of two of our doggy friends. Every month my son and I would attend an event at our local library called Read to a Dog where kids get to practice their reading skills by reading to therapy dogs. Through this program, we became friends with some amazing Golden Retrievers and their lovely owners. My son was especially close to Whisper, Keeper, and Zoey. And unfortunately, both Zoey and Whisper passed away earlier this year from cancer. Zoey and Whisper were sisters, and it was devastating for their owner to lose them both only a couple months apart. This was also the first time my son (age 11) experienced the deaths of friends/loved ones. So there were lots of sad conversations and questions about death. He was very sad to lose his doggy friends, and he was also extra sad because he knew we were moving away. He didn't want to leave Zoey and Whisper's mom after such a loss. But, don't worry. Zoey and Whisper's mom is now training a puppy to be a service dog for the blind. I am sure the new pup is keeping her busy!

Purple Cupcake Scarf

September 24, 2025 0 Comments

Hello! It's been a while, but I am still here! Today, I'm sharing my most recent creation. I was asked if I could make a cupcake scarf similar to the one Kimmy Gibbler wore on Full House. I hadn't made a cupcake scarf in years, so it was fun to make one again. I'm thinking about making more cupcake scarves in different colors soon. The other cupcake scarves I've made are my Crochet Carrot Cupcake Scarf and a Chocolate Cupcake Scarf. (I did not follow or write a pattern for this scarf.)

Easter Bunny Gnome Scarf

April 05, 2025 2 Comments
Since I've been making gnome scarves for holidays like Christmas, Halloween, and St. Patrick's Day, I decided that I migh as well make an Easter themed gnome scarf. As with my other gnome scarves, I created this scarf by following the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots and made some modifications. This pattern is so fun and can be made with a variety of color combinations.

Long Tail Snowman Scarf #2

March 27, 2025 1 Comments

This winter we got a little snow at the beginning of February, and the kids missed a whole week of school.  The snow inspired me to create another Long Tail Frosty Snowman Scarf. I made a Long Tail Frosty Scarf (pattern by Snappy Tots) a couple years ago using one of my favorite I Love This Yarn colorways called Cloudy Sea, which has been discontinued.  So this time, I made one with I Love This Yarn Day Dreamery. I found a couple skeins of Cloudy Sea in my stash, so I do plan on making another scarf in that colorway... eventually. 😁 It is now Spring... kinda... We're just rainy over here!

Crochet Christmas Holly Scarf

December 03, 2024 5 Comments

Welcome to the December Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop. This month's theme is Last Minute Gifts, and I like making handmade crochet accessories for friends and family instead of buying fast fashion pieces. I hope they love and enjoy the handmade gifts and keep them for a looooooooong time. I like to make items that are so unique, so they'll never go out of style. 😁 I knew the perfect pattern to create a really quick Christmas themed scarf. The Christmas Holly Leaf Scarf (pattern by Celtic Knot Crochet) was the first project that popped into my head, and I knew it would also be a great project to use up some of the green yarn in my stash.

Monochrome Crochet Scarves

October 08, 2024 7 Comments

I didn't get a lot of crocheting done over the summer, but now I have found my crojo again just in time to participate in the October Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop. This month's theme is Monochrome, and as a crocheter with a large stash of yarn, I knew exactly what yarn I wanted to use for this theme. Caron Simply Soft Freckle Stripes (Stone) is a black, gray, and white yarn that I fell in love with and bought just because I liked it, which seems to happen a lot. When I bought it, I did not have a project in mind for it. I just wanted it. This is a sustainable craft challenge, and usually I say my crochet projects are slow fashion, which they are. However, this time, I want to bring up a different topic...  overconsumption.

As I mentioned before, I have a large stash of yarn. I've been crocheting for over 20 years, but I started buying more and more yarn once I opened my Etsy shop. And when I see pretty yarn all over Instagram and Facebook and in my email and all the ads that pop up on my phone and magazines in the mail, I get the urge to buy all the pretty yarn whether I have a project in mind or not. And when I go to the craft store, and they're having an awesome sale, or they have a great coupon on their app, I usually buy more yarn because who passes up a good sale!? So I have ended up with all this yarn, and when I look at some of it, I think to myself, "Why the heck did I buy that?!" It's very common for crafters to end up with big stashes of supplies whether it's yarn, fabric, buttons, stickers, paints, scrapbook paper, etc.  I see crafters posting about destashing all the time. Now, I have reached a point where, I'd like to use up this stash of yarn and not buy anymore.

So one great way to use up a yarn stash is by crocheting for charities, and that's what I'm doing. I previously used up a lot of my blue yarn by crocheting blue hats for the Hat Not Hate anti-bullying campaign. And now, I'm participating in Operation Gratitude's Clear Your Stash Challenge.  For this charity challenge, knitters, crocheters, and loomers are making hats and scarves using any color yarn from their stash, and these handmade hats and scarves will be given to deployed troops and veterans during the holiday season. As an Army brat and Navy wife, I'm all for making things for the troops. AND....  Last deployment, my sailor husband came home with a crochet hat that I did NOT recognize. 😕 And when I asked him about it, he said it was donated by Operation Gratitude. He said some guys got scarves too, but they didn't have enough for everyone, so he was only able to get a hat.  (I always make hats for my husband to wear during deployments, but it didn't occur to me to make him a scarf.😆) So now, I'm making scarves for Operation Gratitude. 😊 And the first three scarves I crocheted were made with monochrome yarn.

St. Patricks Day Rainbow Scarf

March 05, 2024 6 Comments

I've been wanting to create a St. Patrick's Day themed scarf for a while now, and I'm pleased to say that I finally got around to making one! I was inspired to go ahead and create this scarf when I saw that the theme for this month's Sustainable Craft Challenge is RAINBOW. I decided to crochet a scarf where one half is in rainbow colors and the other half is green. I knew I wanted a pot of gold and a lepruchan. To create this scarf, I followed the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots and made some modifications. This pattern is so fun and can be made with a variety of color combinations.

Santa & Reindeer Scarf

December 25, 2023 0 Comments
Merry Christmas! I hope everyone is enjoying the day and spending time with family and friends and good food! Anyhoo, I recently crocheted the Santa's Reindeer Sampler Scarf (pattern by Snappy Tots), and I've used this pattern before a couple times, but in the past, I never put Santa on the scarf. I think I was intimidated by his loopy beard. Well, I finally did it. I finally crocheted that loopy beard, and it turned out all right!

Halloween Gnome Scarf (Beetlejuice)

October 27, 2023 2 Comments
This year I've decided to make a couple Halloween themed gnome scarves. I made one with the tradtitional Halloween colors of black, orange, green, and purple (Halloween Gnome Scarf). And for this one, I decided to go with a Beetlejuice theme. To create this scarf, I followed the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots, but I used the colors green, black, white, and purple.

Three-Strip Flower Scarf

September 05, 2023 13 Comments
Lately, I've been exploring the crochet pattern book collection at my local library, and I came across a book (Vogue® Knitting on the Go! Crocheted Scarves Two)with a scarf pattern that I absolutely love.  Sometimes when I check out books, I'll crochet a project in the book, and sometimes I don't! But this time, I did. I was excited to try something new, especially since I knew this project would be perfect for the September Sustainable Craft Challenge. This month's theme is Nature, and the scarf I'm sharing has lots of crochet flowers and leaves.

Lilac Crochet Neckerchief

April 10, 2023 6 Comments

It's spring, and that means it's time to put away the winter coats, thick scarves, and warm beanies. But if you still like to wear scarves in the spring, then this crochet neckerchief is perfect. It'll add a fun pop of color to any outfit. This mini scarf would look great in any color, but for this one, I decided to make it with light purple yarn. I definitely plan on making more in different colors.

Potted Cactus Scarf

February 13, 2023 10 Comments
I've been waiting for a couple years for Twinkie Chan to release her Potted Cactus Scarf pattern, and she finally did. I immediately purchased the pattern from her Etsy shop and searched my yarn stash to figure out which yarns to use for this project. My goal every year is to use up as much yarn in my stash as possible. I have a good amount of green yarn, so I gathered all the yarns and got started.

Valentines Day Gnome Scarf

February 07, 2023 22 Comments

If you've visited my blog or Instagram before, you might have noticed that I've crocheted a few Gnome Scarves with different themes/color schemes. Well, I'm back with another one! This time I've created a Gnome Scarf for Valentine's Day.  Like my other Gnome Scarves (Christmas Gnome Scarves, Halloween Gnome Scarf, Fall Gnome Scarf), this scarf was created using the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots. This pattern is so fun and can be made with a variety of color combinations.

The Wednesday [Inspired] Snood

January 03, 2023 14 Comments
So... Yeah... I watched Wednesday on Netflix, and I noticed the crochet clothing and accessories. I really liked the snood that her friend gave her, and I figured that some awesome crochet designer had already come up with a pattern for it. And, of course, I was correct! And I was happy about it. I decided to follow the Enid’s Snood – Wednesday-Inspired Crochet Snood Free Pattern by The Loopy Lamb. She made the pink version of the snood, but I decided to make the black version that Wednesday wears. The pattern was very quick and easy to follow. For this pattern, you can either crochet with two strands of worsted yarn together, or you can use a bulky or super bulky yarn. I used the super bulky Bernat Softee Chunky yarn.

Long Tail Snowman Scarf

December 12, 2022 16 Comments
When I think of winter, I think of snow. And boy did we have some snow a couple weeks ago. There's still a little snow lingering on the ground. Whenever it snows, I just have to build a snowman. This time, I didn't feel like actually going outside in the snow, so I crocheted one instead! I've been wanting to make the Long Tail Frosty Scarf (pattern by Snappy Tots) for a while, and I'm so glad I finally got around to making it.

Christmas Gnome Scarf

November 14, 2022 18 Comments

Yes, I'm back with ANOTHER gnome scarf! 😆 I absolutely LOVE the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots, so after making a Fall Gnome Scarf just like the original pattern, I decided to change it up to create a Halloween Gnome Scarf. And Since Christmas is next month, I couldn't resist creating a couple Christmas Gnome Scarves! No, I couldn't make just one... I had to make two!

Halloween Gnome Scarf

October 10, 2022 14 Comments

Welcome to the Halloween Crafts & Decor Blog Hop! This month my blog friends and I are sharing crafty Halloween creations and Halloween decor. Last month, I shared a Fall Gnome Scarf for the  Fall Crafts & Decor Blog Hop, and I enjoyed making that project so much that I decided to use the same pattern (Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots) to make another gnome scarf but with Halloween colors.

Fall Gnome Scarf

September 12, 2022 14 Comments
Recently while I was scrolling through Facebook, I saw a really cute gnome scarf. It was a post in the Snappy Tots crochet group I'm in, and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the perfect project for this month's Fall Crafts & Decor Blog Hop. So I purchased the Fall Gnome Scarf pattern by Heidi Yates/Snappy Tots, and I searched through my yarn stash for the perfect colors.
