Every now and then I enjoy giving a piece of furniture a makeover, so this month I decided to join my blogging friends for the April Thrift Store Find Makeover Challenge. For this challenge, my friends and I are creating projects using thrift store finds of $20 or less. This month I'm sharing a bench I found at Goodwill. Since I declared our home as a shoe-feee zone, I needed a bench to place in the entryway for guests to sit on to take off their shoes. (The kids and I usually sit on the stairs to put our shoes on and take them off). I don't want yucky shoes tracking germs into our home, especially since we have two young children who love to crawl around on the floor. And sometimes my husband tracks in strange things when he wears his work boots. So I must say I was so pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon this bench at the local Goodwill.  I had to get it, especially since it was only $12.99!

A few years ago when my daughter was still a toddler, my father gave us an antique rocking horse for her to play with. I knew that eventually I'd like to give it a makeover. Well, I finally got around to it! I figured I should go ahead and repaint it before my son outgrows it. Since his room has a nautical theme (and I love all things nautical!), I decided to paint it to match the theme of his room. So it just happens to be red, white, and blue.

Just the other day I was telling my husband that I wanted a bench to place in the entryway for guests to sit on to take off their shoes before stepping on our carpet. I don't want germy shoes on our carpets since we have two young children who love rolling around on the floor. And sometimes my husband tracks in strange things when he wears his work boots. So I must say I was so pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon this bench at the local Goodwill. However, I almost didn't get it because I didn't want to find a new place for the dresser that was in the entryway, but I ended up putting it in my craft room. Anyhoo, I decided that I had to get it since I just had a conversation with the husband about wanting one, and it was only $12.99!

I recently purchased brand new night stands that actually match! So I no longer have a need for my magazine lamp table, so this is my farewell to my magazine lamp table that I gave a makeover to a few years ago.

It was the perfect nightstand because it has a lamp and a place for me to store my books that I read just before bed (sometimes).  It was given to me about 10 years ago by an old neighbor who was about to deploy to Iraq.  He was packing up his stuff to either put in storage or throw out/give away.  So he offered me this magazine lamp table and a framed Scarface picture.  He later decided that he wanted his Scarface picture back. (LOL)  Anyhoo... Here's how the table used to look:

Like many kiddos her age, my daughter is obsessed with Frozen. She has Frozen pajamas, a Frozen bowling set, the Frozen soundtrack on her LeapPad Ultra, Frozen sheets, Frozen posters, An Olaf backpack, Frozen books, Frozen cups and plates, etc... So I decided change the theme and colors of her room from ladybugs (pink, green, tan, & brown) to Frozen.
