Orchard Table Runner

September 13, 2021 19 Comments
Welcome to the Fall Crafts & Decor Blog Hop! This month my blog friends and I are sharing our Fall themed creations and decor. When I think of Fall, I think of cooler weather, changing leaves, and pumpkins! So I decided to crochet an orchard themed table runner that features pumpkins and apples. I've had the pattern for the table runner in my pattern stash for a long time, and I'm so glad that I finally got around to making it. To create this table runner, I followed the Orchard Sampler pattern by Snappy Tots.

Fishy Wall Decor

August 17, 2021 14 Comments
Welcome to the August Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! Since today is National Thrift Shop Day, we are sharing thrift/upcycle projects. I haven't visited a thrift shop lately, but I recently decided to repaint some fish I purchased from a thrift store a few years ago. I originally bought the fish for my son's nautical nursery, but now he's older and has a Spiderman themed room. So I recently decided to change my kiddos' bathroom from a Mickey Mouse theme with a black Mickey Mouse shower curtain and a black Mickey Mouse shaped rug to a brighter fish theme. So I pulled the fish from our storage shed and got to work repainting them. I also checked Pinterest for inspiration, and I found this pin of cool wooden and ceramic fish.

Fairy Garden Tiered Tray

March 16, 2021 22 Comments

Welcome to the March Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of this Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month's challenge is Magical March, so I decided to create a fairy themed tiered tray. I haven't decorated my tiered tray since December, and I had put it away in a storage closet. So this challenge was great inspiration to get me to decorate my tiered tray again. Of course, I searched Pinterest for inspiration, and I found a pin for 20 Whimsical DIY Miniature Fairy Garden Ideas. You can also find more fairy garden inspiration and DIYs in my Fairy Garden board.

Upcycled Let It Bloom Stamped Books Set

February 10, 2020 9 Comments
This month I've joined my blogging friends for the February Upcycle Challenge. For this month's challenge, I'm sharing a stamped book stack I made using a set of children's books my kiddos no longer read. After seeing these book stacks on tiered tray all over Instagram, I'm finally glad to make my own, so I can add them to my tiered tray decor.

Colorful Ribbon Wall Art

September 03, 2016 6 Comments
Since we moved to our current home a couple years ago, I've been constantly decorating and redecorating. I've changed the theme of our master bathroom three times! Most recently, I decided that I wanted a colorful bathroom after coming across a cute shower curtain and its colorful matching accessories. I also remembered some wall art I saw while watching a show on one of my favorite channels, HGTV. I can't remember which show it was on, but I did snap a picture of it for inspiration.

Because My Curtains Were Too Long...

July 24, 2016 0 Comments
Not too long ago, I ordered some curtain panels online that I loved sooooo much I have them in my bedroom and the living room/playroom. I also bought the matching quilted bedding... I just love the colorful Mudhut Makayla Curtains fabric! Anyhoo, the curtains were only available in one size: 55 x 84 inches. In our current home, we have baseboard heaters, which I hate, and I do not want to take a chance with having furniture or curtains too close to the heaters. I don't want any fire hazards in our home. So since the curtains were 84 inches long, I cut them a little. At first, I tried to hem them using velcro because I didn't want to cut them, but that made them poofy at the bottom, so I just wacked them.

Where I Create

July 15, 2016 46 Comments
Last summer, I set up my craft room in our large hall closet, and I'm always adding new things to my craft closet. While shopping around various places, I've found several metal baskets/carts, jelly baskets/bags, a comfy chair, a Marilyn Monroe clock, a Marilyn Monroe canvas, a locker, a metal dress form, and a window!  I'm so glad I finally have my own cozy room to sew, paint, and store my junk.

Wall of Fish

February 27, 2016 0 Comments
I consider all rooms in our home a work in progress. I am always adding new decor and moving things around. My son's nursery is no exception. I added fish to the wall above his crib in his nautical nursery. Since I made him a crochet fish blanket, I feel that these fish really go well with the theme of his nursery. I'm sure I'll be making changes to his nursery again when he outgrows his crib and moves on to a toddler bed.

Frozen Themed Bedroom

January 30, 2016 0 Comments
Like most little girls her age, my daughter LOVES Frozen. She loves Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. So when we moved here to our new home about a year ago, I decided that I'd give her new bedroom a Frozen theme, and I've been working on it ever since! Now, I think I'm DONE! I have been rearranging her furniture all week. I think I've done all I can do with this room. I've created a bed canopy, reading nook, painted a dresser, and made a Frozen puzzle gallery wall. In the process, I've put so many holes in the walls! But I have nail hole filler, so it should be okay.

Frozen (Inspired) Vanity Reading Nook

January 28, 2016 2 Comments
I've been working on my daughter's Frozen themed room for a while now, and I've noticed that she likes to sit on her vanity like it's an actual seat. So I decided to make a cushion for it and create a reading nook in her room. But before I sewed the cushion, I had to do a little painting.

Mademoiselle Curtains

January 20, 2016 0 Comments
When my family and I moved to a new home, some of our windows were bigger than the windows in our former home. So I needed new curtains. And I find that whenever you move, you have to figure out how to arrange everything in your new home to make it cozy and just the way you like it. Well, I tend to buy a bunch of new items whenever we move to a new place. And we seem to move every few years for my husband's job. I'll be so glad when we have a forever home that I can paint and decorate exactly how I like it. I've gone overboard with buying new things for our new home. Every room looks totally different than in our old home. For example, our master bedroom used to have a red, black, gray, and white color scheme with large Marilyn Monroe canvases and photos. I know my husband was so tired of Marilyn, which I don't understand how anyone could get tired of Marilyn Monroe!!! But she was in every room of the house. Anyhoo... so with our new bedroom, I'm going with a more bohemian look. But since I did put a lot of work into decorating our old room, I'd like to bid farewell to the adorable Mademoiselle Curtains I made for our old room.

Frozen Puzzle Gallery Wall

January 16, 2016 1 Comments
We've been in our home since November, but I am still tweaking the decor. This week I created a Frozen gallery wall in my daughter's room using Frozen puzzles I purchased from the Dollar Tree, TJ Maxx, and Ross (my favorite stores). I considered framing the puzzles, but they'll all very odd sizes, so I wouldn't be able to buy frames. Instead, I decided to frame them using sticks. So while at a couple playgrounds, I picked up a bunch of sticks... and a tree branch!

DIY Frozen Inspired Bed Canopy

January 13, 2016 0 Comments
I've been working on turning my daughter's room into an awesome Frozen themed room. First, I repainted her dresser to match the colors of the Frozen posters and puzzles on the walls. Next, I decided the room needed a Frozen inspired bed canopy.

Ahoy Matey Diaper Stacker & Quilt

January 02, 2016 0 Comments
While I was pregnant with my son and impatiently awaiting his arrival, I made several items for his nautical nursery including a diaper stacker and quilt. The nautical fabric I used is from Michael Miller's Ahoy Matey collection. I fell in love with this fabric when I stumbled upon it online. Since I'm not a quilter, I ordered the fabric that's already quilted and added navy blue bias tape to finish it off. The quilted fabric is double sided, so one side has the Ahoy Matey fabric and the other side has navy anchor fabric.

Vintage Desktop Kitchen Curtain

September 05, 2015 0 Comments
I've been busy working on changing my kitchen theme from apples, grapes, and pears to a blue, red, black, and white retro and country kitchen. I bought new canisters. I swapped out my wall decor plates featuring apples, grapes, and pears for ones with Marilyn Monroe. I bought new mugs and a mug rack. And I finally got around to making new curtains.
