I recently participated in the 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop with over 50 other bloggers, and I really enjoyed coming up with projects and posts for each of the 12 days. Here's a roundup of my 12 Days of Christmas posts from the blog hop.
As a fan of the Seahawks, I've decided to have a Seahawks themed Christmas. I've decorated our Christmas tree with blue and green ornaments. I have Seahawks inspired Christmas wreaths. And I've crocheted a Seahawks inspired Christmas Tree Skirt and Christmas Stockings. To create our stockings, I used Red Heart's FREE pattern for Gingerbread Stockings. The yarns I used for these stockings are Red Heart Super Saver in Blue Suede, Glowworm, Grey Heather, and Red Heart Classic in Silver. For the gingerbread men/women, I used Red Heart Soft in Toast.
My kiddos love when I bake cookies for them, and they enjoy them even more when I allow them to help Mommy (that's me!) bake the cookies. And since it's the holiday season, we've been trying new cookie recipes. I found the yummy recipe for these Double Chocolate Chip M&M Cookies (Santa's Cookies) on the Creme De La Crumb blog. The kiddos helped me make a batch of these Chocolate Chip and M&M Christmas Cookies as one of our Thanksgiving dinner desserts, and we'll definitely make more for Santa on Christmas Eve. These cookies are so festive with the red and green M&Ms.
I may no longer live in Washington, but I am still a Seattle Seahawks fan! For a third year in a row, we are have a Seahawks themed Christmas tree! Since the colors green and blue are my favorite colors, I really enjoy decorating my tree and home in the Seahawks theme. I usually wait until the day after Thanksgiving to put up our tree, but this year I put the tree up the weekend before Thanksgiving. I thought it would be lovely to have the tree up and decorated while we enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner.
Yesterday while the kiddos were at school, my husband and I did some Christmas shopping. I have wrapped only a few of their gifts so far. I decided to make crochet gift tags for a couple of the presents. And yes, I have Seahawks wrapping paper!
My kiddos love for me to bake homemade cookies for them. I usually bake gluten free peanut butter oatmeal chocolate chip raisin cookies for them, but since it's the holiday season, I've been trying different cookie recipes. While grocery shopping, I found some Hershey's S'mores Pieces, and there was a recipe for S'mores Cookies on the back of the bag. I thought it would be an awesome recipe to put in a jar as a gift, and I also made a batch of the cookies for my kiddos, too!
Christmas time is my favorite time of year, and every year I decorate the buffet in my dining room with fun Christmas decor. Last year I had a small tree on top of my buffet, but this year I didn't want to venture that deep into our storage shed to get it! Besides, I found a cool Santa mailbox and a peppermint cabinet to display on my buffet instead...
We're having a Seahawks themed Christmas again this year, and our tree is decked out in Seahawks ornaments. Although I bought many blue and green ornaments for the tree including several Seattle Seahawks Christmas Ornaments, I decided to make 3 crochet ornaments.
I love a good chicken salad! I love to eat it either on bread or with crackers. I love it as a snack or as lunch with a salad (veggie salad) Chicken salad is also a good appetizer to take to work functions or to serve at a holiday party. We served chicken salad as one of the foods at my daughter's 1st birthday party, and everybody loved it. My mother makes a really good chicken salad. Anyhoo, I don't make it all the time, but when I do, I only use a few easy ingredients...
Since I think gingerbread houses are super cute, I thought it would be fun to make gingerbread houses with my kiddos. I found an awesome gingerbread village kitthat included four mini houses, which meant each person in our family could make a little gingerbread house since we're a family of four. Perfect!
I've always admired all the pretty advent calendars I've seen on Pinterest, and I've pinned many! I'm pleased to say that I have finally created an advent calendar of my own, and I think it'll be a fun way to count down the number of days until Christmas with my kiddos.
Welcome to Day 2 of the Fourth Annual 12 Days of Christmas Series! Christmas is a time for gift giving, and I enjoy crocheting gifts for friends and family. Last Christmas, I made Crochet Gingerbread Mug Rugs as gifts for my mom and my aunts. What is a Mug Rug? A Mug Rug is a bigger than a coaster but smaller than a placemat and can be used to rest your coffee and a small snack like a cookie or two. These could also be used as dishcloths.
