Upcycled Denim Crochet Hook Case

March 08, 2021 12 Comments
Welcome to the March Upcycle Challenge! For this month's challenge, I've decided to sew a crochet hook case using a pair of jeans that my son has outgrown. One of my favorite fabrics to work with is denim! I just love denim projects, and I have a whole Pinterest board full of denim creations called Denim Delights. I received a Furls Crochet Hook as a gift for Valentine's Day, and I decided to make a case for it.

New Year, New Hook!

December 15, 2020 18 Comments
I'm sure we are all ready for 2020 to be over! I'm hoping 2021 will be a better year for us all. In celebration of the new year to come, I've created a new crochet hook to share for the December Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month's challenge is all about new year's or winter projects, so I created a 2021 crochet hook based on the shape of a crochet hook I pinned.

To create this crochet hook, I used black polymer clay and these tools.

When I think of new year's eve, I think of the ball dropping in times square and glitter. I was also inspired buy the shape of a crochet hook I pinned on Pinterest, so I decided to make four balls and attach the numbers 2-0-2-1 to the balls. Then I baked it in the oven for about 30 minutes.

I wanted the numbers to be metallic gold, so I painted them with gold nail polish because after moving, I think all my paints are in the storage shed since I've been focusing on crocheting, not other crafts.

I painted the rest of the hook with silver and gold glitter polish.

Ta-Da! The polish didn't take long to dry.

Now, I have a new hook that is perfect for the new year. One of my resolutions for 2021 is to use up most of my 800+ skeins/balls yarn. I know... I know... That's been my resolution for the past few years, but I've got the perfect project to help use up a bunch of my yarn. I can't wait to share it later!

Thanks so much for checking out my 2021 crochet hook!

Happy Holidays!

Pencil Inspired Crochet Hooks

August 03, 2018 0 Comments
Here in Georgia the kids are heading back to school, and lately I've been crocheting pencil scarves for the back to school season. I've been using my crochet pencil hooks to create my pencil scarves. I have four pencil inspired crochet hooks I made using polymer clay. Whenever I crochet a pencil inspired project, I have to use my pencil hooks! So fair I've made several crochet pencil scarves and a pencil pillow.

Seahawks [Inspired] Crochet Hook

July 21, 2017 0 Comments
Living in Washington state has turned me into a Seahawks fan. And since I am a Seahawks fan who enjoys crafting, I have crafted several Seahawks creations. I've sewn a dress for my daughter, and I've crocheted several Seahawks [inspired] crochet hats. Well, a little while ago, I created a Seahawks [inspired] polymer clay crochet hook. Working with clay is still new to me, so I'm practicing m sculpting, smoothing, and painting skills.

Wonder Woman [Inspired] Crochet Hook

As a fan of Wonder Woman, I couldn't resist creating a Wonder Woman [Inspired] Crochet Hook. For this hook, I used a size F/4mm Clover crochet hook, which is my favorite size hook and brand hook. I just love the way the yarn glides off the Clover hooks.

Crochet Carrot Scarves and Crochet Hook

March 15, 2017 15 Comments

The first day of Spring is just around the corner, and Easter has been on my mind. So since it's still chilly here in the Pacific Northwest, I created a couple Crochet Carrot Scarves. And while working on the scarves, I realized that I needed a carrot crochet hook, so I made one!

Pepperoni Pizza Crochet Hook

March 02, 2017 1 Comments
As a fan of the crocheter Twinkie Chan and a lover of pepperoni pizza, I couldn't resist making Twinkie's Pepperoni Pizza Scarf. I followed the pattern in her book Twinkie Chan's Crochet Goodies for Fashion Foodies: 20 Yummy Treats to Wear. This scarf was so fun and easy to make! While making the scarf, I was inspired to create a Pepperoni Pizza crochet hook and stitch marker with polymer clay.

Bronze Goddess Crochet Hook

Lately, I've become obsessed with browsing on Instagram. I've found so many inspirational crafters on Instagram. I've recently discovered that there are a few ladies who make beautiful crochet hooks. I ordered one for a friend as a Christmas gift, and I loved her hook. I should've ordered one for myself, but I decided to make my own instead. It just seemed like something fun to do.
