Dining Room Table Makeover

About 17 years ago when I moved out on my own, my mother gave me a dining room table.  My father refinishes furniture, so they often switch out their dining room table and other pieces. After having this table for so long and having two children who did some arts and crafts on the table with acrylic paint at the beginning of remote learning at home due to covid, this table definitely needed a makeover.
Here's the table before the makeover.

I started this project in the fall, which was not a great idea in WA because the cooler weather means it takes longer for the finish to dry. But I wasn't too concerned about that since our kitchen counter has a bar, so I bought stools for it and that's where we ate while the table was being worked on. My husband hauled the table and chairs into the garage for me, and I got to work sanding. I had dust everywhere. I was all over my SUV. It was a mess. lol I decided to stain the table top. so I had to sand off the old finish and stain. I painted the table's legs and the chairs.

Please excuse my messy garage! WE had been in our home for about a month, and I had the inside of the house looking good, but the garage still needed some work. I got it better organized after I finished the table. lol Anyhoo... I used shermin williams paint (recommended by my dad). The colors I used are peppercorn (dark gray) and reflecting pool (blue).

I stained the table top with Minwax Jacobean stain, and I painted the legs with the shermin williams peppercorn paint. After everything dried, I sprayed the table and chairs with Minwax clear satin Polyurethane.

Here's the finished table... It needs its chair friends!

ta-da!

Here's the table with my Give Thanks Thanksgiving Table runner. I'm still working on a Christmas table runner, and Christmas is 5 days away! lol  Anyhoo...  Thanks so much for checking out my dining room table!  Stop by again soon to see what I'm working on next!

  5. You did a gorgeous job! The colors you chose are amazing. My mom has maple furniture and she's afraid of change. I think your dining room will convince her to do it!
Can you hear me ? I'm clapping for you.

    1. LOL Thanks so much!!! My father refinishes furniture, and he used to be sooooo against painting antiques. But now he's painting everything! Show your mom several cute painted pieces, and I'm sure she'll change her mind.
