Crochet Orca

June 30, 2024 2 Comments
School is out for summer, but during Teacher Appreciation Week, I made this orca as a teacher appreciation gift for my son's teacher. I noticed during parent-teacher conferences that she had a crochet crayon pillow and a pencil pillow in her classroom, so I decided to make her an Orca pillow since the kids had recently learned about Orcas, and the teacher really likes them.

Crochet Tabby Cat

March 07, 2023 17 Comments
Welcome to the March Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of the Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop (hosted by Julie @ Sum of Their Stories) is to create a sustainable/eco-friendly craft project. This month's theme is Soft, so I decided to crochet a tabby cat using really soft chenille yarn. Both of my kiddos like stuffed animals, especially cats, and sometimes instead of buying stuffed animals, I'll make them. I have noticed that my children (especially my daughter) are kinda rough with their stuffed animals. Sometimes the same day they get their new stuffed friend, they'll come to me asking me to fix a hole in it. Like, already!? But I've found that the stuffed animals I crochet for them, don't end up with holes or other injuries. 😁 I'm not sure if it's because I take extra care to ensure that the toy is very sturdy or if my kids are a little gentler with the toy because they know Mommy made it. 🤷

Little Lamb Crochet Scarf

July 30, 2022 6 Comments
One of my goals for this year has been to actually make projects from the patterns in the many crochet books I own. So I finally got around to making a scarf from the Amigurumi Animal Scarves book. This book has so many cute patterns, and I decided to start with the Lizzy the Lamb Scarf. I've had some Bernat Pipsqueak yarn in my stash for a while, and I've really been wanting to use it.

TMNT Themed Bohasaurus

May 27, 2022 0 Comments
Earlier this month when I participated in the Dollar Store Craft Challenge, I shared my Black & White Bohasaurus. Well, that was not the first Bohasaurus I made. For the first Bohasaurus I made, I thought it would be cool to crochet it in TMNT colors, so I did! The Bohasaurus pattern by Mama Made Minis is really fun and works up quick, especially since you're using blanket yarn. The Bohasaurus is a mix between a stuffed toy and a lovey blanket, so only the head and tail are stuffed. The body is not stuffed making it extra cuddly like a blanket.

Black and White Bohasaurus

May 09, 2022 15 Comments
Welcome to the Dollar Store Craft Challenge! Several of my blogging friends and I have each created a project using items from the Dollar Store.  For this challenge, I'm sharing a black and white dinosaur I crocheted with yarn purchased from my local Dollar Tree. It was a really fun and quick project I made using the Bohasaurus pattern by Mama Made Minis. The Bohasaurus is a mix between a stuffed toy and a lovey blanket, so only the head and tail are stuffed. The body is not stuffed making it extra cuddly like a blanket.

Buzz... I Made a Bee!

July 24, 2021 8 Comments
I don't crochet amigurumi projects often, but I was asked by a friend to make a bee. So I did! I searched for a crochet bee pattern on Pinterest, and I found the TikTok Bee pattern. This pattern is awesome because there's also a video. I've been working on using up my many skeins of yarn for a while now, and this project finished off a skein of yellow yarn. Yay!

Crochet Bernie Sanders Meme Doll

February 15, 2021 14 Comments
After the Inauguration, it seems like everyone was making the Bernie Sanders doll with his cute gloves. I usually don't jump on the bandwagon, and in this case, I still feel like I didn't. LOL I was asked by an old friend to crochet a Bernie Sanders doll. And since this friend and I go waaaaaaaay back, I did. Amigurimi isn't something I normally do, but I did it! I've made a couple of these dolls now using the pattern by TobeyTimeCrochet.

Fun Fall Owl Pillows

September 02, 2017 5 Comments
For me, as soon as September hits, it's Fall y'all! One Fall, I made a Halloween Owl Pillow for my daughter, and my neighbor stopped by one day to sell us some donuts and coffee for her daughter's cheerleading fundraiser. When she saw the Halloween owl pillow I made for my daughter, she wanted one. She also saw a bundle of leafy fabric that I had left over from a few other projects. She asked if I'd make her an owl pillow using that leafy fabric, so I did. I also made an owl pillow using scarecrow and orange plaid fabric I stumbled upon during a trip to Jo-Ann fabric store. I love the  pretty fabric quarters and bundles from Joann.  Anyhoooo... Here are a few pictures I took while creating my fall owl pillows:

Upcycled Denim Owl Pillow

April 20, 2016 0 Comments
In honor of Earth Day, I decided to do a couple denim upcycle projects. One of my goals for this year is to do more upcycling. I love upcycling with denim... Well, I love how the denim projects turn out, but I hate sewing denim!

I've made several owls before (like 20), so I used one of my favorite owl patterns, the Snuggly Owl, which has a great tutorial. My owl isn't exactly like the Snuggly Owl featured in the pattern because I skipped the center strip, bodice, and the feet. I also made my eyes differently than the owl in the pattern.

Ladybug Blanket & Owl Pillow

April 02, 2016 0 Comments
When I found out that one of my good friends was pregnant with a baby girl, I immediately got to work on a couple handmade gifts. Of course, she is aware that I crochet, so she told me that she'd like for me to make her a blanket, but I wanted it to be a surprise, so I acted like I wasn't going to make her one. Haha! But I really was making one, of course. Originally, I wanted to make a pink, gray, black, and white chevron blanket, but I didn't like the pattern I was using, so I went back to what I know, granny square.  So I made a 30 x 30 gray, pink, and white granny square blanket with a crochet ladybug applique. I also sewed an owl with fabric that has similar colors.

Valentines Owl Pillow

February 05, 2016 2 Comments
About a week ago, my family and I made a trip to JoAnn's fabric store, and I purchased some Valentine's Day fabric and some rick rack to make another owl pillow. I finished it up early this morning, and as soon as my daughter saw it, she knew it was hers. For this pillow, I tried a pattern that creates a rounder and bigger owl than what I usually make. I like this pattern much better. I plan on making my own pattern for a even bigger owl. A friend has requested that I make a couple larger sized owl throw pillows for her couch. I may have to make another trip to JoAnn's to get more fabric for that project. I'm also working on an orange sock monkey owl for my husband, but it should be completed this week.
