Times Square Baby Blanket

My favorite things to crochet are scarves and blankets, especially baby blankets. So whenever someone I know is having a baby, I use that as an opportunity to make a baby blanket. 😁 Soon my aunt will welcome her first great grandbaby, and it's so exciting. Since I'm in a military family, I'm not sure when I'll ever met this baby. In fact, I haven't seen the father since he was a baby. He was the first baby I ever held! I was about 15 or 16 and terrified that I'd drop him, but I didn't. Anyhoo, I finished the blanket last night and shipped it off to its new home today.
To create this fun baby blanket, I used one of my favorite patterns, which is the Frankenyarn Blanket pattern by Projectarian. I used a size G (4.0mm) crochet hook. I crocheted the squares with Caron Simply Soft Times Square yarn. (I think I used about 2 skeins.) It is so pretty! It's a variegated yarn that features the colors hot pink, light pink, purple, light purple, and minty blue. I've made this blanket before, I always use variegated yarns.

For this blanket, I made 36 squares, so I had 6 rows of 6 squares. I joined them with Caron Simply Soft Off White yarn.

Here's what it looks like when it's on my lap, and I'm hard at work. I place stitch markers in the top right corner of each square, so I'll know which way to place them.

All the squares are joined!

Now, it's border time! I modified the border for this blanket. I end this blanket with a row of pom poms.

I was asked if I block the squares... No, I block the whole blanket once it's complete. I use blocking mats and knit blockers.

Ta-Da! I love the color changes with the pom pom border. I forgot to measure the blanket once it was complete, but I know it was at least 32 inches wide. The length should be a little longer than the width.

I added a suede Sew Crafty Crochet label.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my latest creation. If you'd like to check out the other blankets I've made with this pattern they are the Colorful Frankenyarn Throw Blanket, Wildflower Winds Baby Blanket, and Blue Camo Stripe Baby Blanket.

    1. Thank you so so much!😁😁😁 I almost didn't want to let this blanket go. LOL I really like the colors.

I've made a temperature blanket before... It took me forever! I used the C2C stitch. It was massive. I never added a border to it. I'm not even totally sure where I put it since we moved. 😂

    1. Thank you! And thanks for pinning! I really enjoy this pattern, so making this blanket goes by pretty fast. C2C baby blankets also work up pretty fast, too.
