When I decided to make the Purple Scarves, I searched through my stash to find the perfect shades of purple. I used I Love This Yarn in Grape for the main body of the scarf, but for the ends, I had to hunt down the perfect shade of dark purple. I already had the the grape yarn and the black yarn in my stash.
I started with crocheting the "paper" part of the crayon while I searched for a yarn to use to make the pointed and flat ends of the crayon. Of course, I had to crochet the scarf with my favorite purple Clover 4mm hook
.
For one scarf, I crocheted the letters and sewed them onto the scarf. I used the Alphabet patterns by Moogly to crochet these letters.
For the other scarf, I crocheted the letters into the scarf tapestry style (bottom). I think I like sewing on the applique letters (top) better.
For the ends of the scarf, I used Scarfie Purple and Black
yarn. I used the purple sections, of course.
These scarves are approximately 68 inches long and 4.5 inches wide.

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.
