Welcome to the September Pinterest Challenge, hosted by Erlene at My Pinterventures! The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! For this month's challenge, we're creating pumpkin or Halloween projects inspired by pins we found on Pinterest. The Pin I chose is of a Pumpkin Placemat made with crochet granny squares. Sounds fun, right! I like granny square projects, especially small granny squares because they work up really fast.

For this heart shaped mug rug, I used a couple Valentine's Day fabrics. One fabric features hearts and a crossword puzzle with Valentine's Day themed words like cupid, kisses, valentine, candy, xoxo, roses, hugs, hearts, and more. The other fabric is black with pink and red sparkly hearts. I used the crossword puzzle fabric as my main fabric and the black hearts fabric for the top flap of the envelope.

I've fallen in love with mug rugs recently, and decided that I wanted to make Halloween mug rugs with pockets for a spoon and tea bag... or candy!

 

For special occasions, I like to send handmade gifts to my close family and friends. So for my mother's birthday, I sent her some candy corn mug rugs. My mom likes when I make stuff for her, and I know she likes candy corn. I like making owls, so I made one shaped like an owl, and the other is shaped like candy corn.

I made a trip to JoAnn for some yellow, orange, white, and candy corn fabric. I put the fabric that I used for the mug rugs in my caddy.  

In less than a month, my daughter (who is my oldest kiddo) will start kindergarten. I'm not ready! It took me a while to getting used to her attending preschool for just a couple hours a day, but now I have to send her to kindergarten all day without me!?! I'll probably cry the first day. Anyhoo, I thought I'd make her a special placemat in honor of her starting school soon. I also made a mug rug for myself just because I love coffee and I love mug rugs!

I love mug rugs! I use them everyday, and I love making them, so I just had to create a set of patriotic mug rugs since Memorial Day and Independence Day are just around the corner. For this mug rug, I used fabric scraps left over from my daughter's Patriotic Patchwork Wrap Dress.  Anyhoo, I've been seeing a lot of Dresden plates, so I finally decided to give it a try. I made a trip to Joann's to buy an acrylic Dresden tool, and I ended up buying a bunch of other things including fabric to add to my already pretty large stash.
