Here in Washington state, you either need to bring your own bag(s) to the store when you go shopping, or you'll be charged for each bag the cashier uses for your purchases. While I have a couple large reusable bags that I've bought from Michael's and Joann, I usually forget to take them with me, especially when I go to Wal-Mart, and I always buy a bunch of stuff at Wal-Mart. So in addition to my purchases, I also end up buying a few plastic bags. But I'm trying to get better at remembering to take my reusable bags. My mom suggested that I keep them in my vehicle. I have some in the garage near my vehicle, and I still forget to grab them! Anyhoo, I thought it would be cool to crochet a shopping bag, and while searching Pinterest, I found a pin for a Simple and Useful Crochet Plastic Bag Pattern. I also thought this would be the perfect project to share for the July Sustainable Pinterest Challenge since this month's theme is Reduce Single Use.
, so I decided to take a pair of my son's old overalls that he outgrew awhile ago to create a fun denim bag. I haven't sewn anything in a couple years, so it was fun to dust off my old sewing machine.
