My final completed projects for 2025 were several Puppy Love Messy Bun Beanies. I crocheted these beanies by following the Puppy Love Heart Slouchy pattern by Whistle & Ivy, but instead of closing the top, I added a drawsting to make it a messy bun/ponytail beanie. These hats are really fun to make, especially since you can have a blast crocheting the hearts in so many fun color combinations.
I crocheted the hats using several color combinations, and I like to use a crochet hook that matches a color of yarn in my projects, if I can. 😁 I used a 4.5mm crochet hook.
So for this hat, I switched to a pink Furls crochet hook. 😂
After I finished crocheting the beanies, I made colorful pom poms with my small Clover Pom Pom Maker to add to the ends of the drawstrings.
Yarns: I Love This Yarn White and Jazz Stripe
I Love This Yarn Light Taupe, Big Twist Light Rose, Red Heart Super Saver Baby Pink, I Love This Yarn Pink, and Red Heart With Love Holly Berry.
Caron Simply Soft Hot Pink, Lemonade, Harvest Red, Kelly Green, Neon Orange, Lavender Blue, and Royal Blue
All the hats have hearts, so they're all perfect for Valentine's Day, but I feel like this color combination is especially perfect for Valentine's Day.
I really enjoyed these colors! I believe this I Love This Yarn Jazz Stripes has been discontinued, which is really sad because it's such a great variegated yarn. I love these colors. The pom poms are so cute and colorful.
I really loved working with the black tweed yarn. I crocheted the hearts with yarns that matched the tweed pieces in the Lion Brand Heartland Tweed Black Canyon yarn.
I decided to make this purple hat with the same colors that I used to crochet a set of purple Christmas ornaments. I thought the colors looked so pretty together.
These are the Purple Christmas Baubles that inspired the color combo for the purple hat.
Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my messy bun beanies!
