Easy Upcycled Crochet Christmas Ornaments

Christmas is fastly approaching, so I figured it was time to get to work on some ornaments to add to my Seattle Seahawks themed Christmas tree. I usually buy a few new ornaments, but this time I thought it would be more eco friendly to create some new ornaments by upcycling some old ornaments that have lost their shine. I wanted to find a way to bring new life to some old ornaments that I haven't used in years, so I searched Pinterest and found a pin for a quick and easy way to upcycle ornaments with crochet. Since I have a Seahawks themed Christmas tree, I grabbed some blue and green yarn and a crochet hook and got to work!
I gathered a bunch of teal ornaments that I no longer use.

Several of them had bad spots with missing paint.

I used Red Heart Team Spirit Navy/Green and crocheted a chain that was about 60 inches long.

I added a dab of hot glue to the ornament and then wrapped the crochet chain around the ornament.

I added more glue as needed.

The first ornament I made was half navy blue and half green.

Then I made one that's just navy blue. While wrapping the chain around the ornament, I realized my chain wasn't long enough, so I crocheted more chains.

The navy blue ornament is all done.

So far, I've made four of these super easy upcycle crochet ornaments. They're really quick to make, so I'll definitely make more soon!

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my Upcycled Crochet Christmas Ornaments!

  1. What a cute idea and a fun way to update old ornaments! Even I can crochet a chain, lol! That's the only thing I actually learned from my mil when she tried to teach me how to crochet! Happy Crafting Holidays!

  4. So cute! My hubby would love it if I let him have an Alabama themed Christmas tree. We do have a few Crimson Tide ornaments. These would be great in any color. This is a crochet project I can do! Pinned!

    1. LOL My husband like the Tennessee Titans, so he's not really a fan of my Seahawks tree, but I've stuck with that theme for a few years now, so he just accepts it. But yes, these ornaments would be great in any color combo. Thanks for pinning!

  5. Gosh, I think even a non-crocheter like me could manage just one stitch type. I'm excited that it might be possible for me to make nice upcycled ornaments just like yours!! Pinned to my Christmas craft board.
