Orchard Table Runner

Welcome to the Fall Crafts & Decor Blog Hop! This month my blog friends and I are sharing our Fall themed creations and decor. When I think of Fall, I think of cooler weather, changing leaves, and pumpkins! So I decided to crochet an orchard themed table runner that features pumpkins and apples. I've had the pattern for the table runner in my pattern stash for a long time, and I'm so glad that I finally got around to making it. To create this table runner, I followed the Orchard Sampler pattern by Snappy Tots.
The first step to any crochet project, is figuring out which yarns you're going to use. For this project, I crocheted with Vanna's Choice Terracotta, Rust, Brick, Oatmeal, Chocolate, and Fern.

I crocheted with a size I (5.5mm) crochet hook

There are four pumpkin sections and two apple sections. The stitches add so much texture.

After the apple and pumpkin sections are crocheted, I crocheted around the piece with the Oatmeal yarn.

I crocheted the stems with the Chocolate yarn, and then I sewed them onto the piece with a yarn needle.

After adding the stems, I added the leaves to the pumpkins and apples.

The pumpkins have a different leaf from the apples.

The apple's leaf and stem are different from the pumpkins'.

The last step is the add the border. I did the border a little different from the pattern. The pattern says to use a variegated yarn, but I decided to use a solid brown yarn (Chocolate) for the border.

All done!

Now, the table runner is on my dining room table.
