New Year, New Hook!

I'm sure we are all ready for 2020 to be over! I'm hoping 2021 will be a better year for us all. In celebration of the new year to come, I've created a new crochet hook to share for the December Pinterest Challenge! The purpose of the Pinterest Challenge is to motivate us to not just pin, but to make it happen! This month's challenge is all about new year's or winter projects, so I created a 2021 crochet hook based on the shape of a crochet hook I pinned.

To create this crochet hook, I used black polymer clay and these tools.

When I think of new year's eve, I think of the ball dropping in times square and glitter. I was also inspired buy the shape of a crochet hook I pinned on Pinterest, so I decided to make four balls and attach the numbers 2-0-2-1 to the balls. Then I baked it in the oven for about 30 minutes.

I wanted the numbers to be metallic gold, so I painted them with gold nail polish because after moving, I think all my paints are in the storage shed since I've been focusing on crocheting, not other crafts.

I painted the rest of the hook with silver and gold glitter polish.

Ta-Da! The polish didn't take long to dry.

Now, I have a new hook that is perfect for the new year. One of my resolutions for 2021 is to use up most of my 800+ skeins/balls yarn. I know... I know... That's been my resolution for the past few years, but I've got the perfect project to help use up a bunch of my yarn. I can't wait to share it later!

Thanks so much for checking out my 2021 crochet hook!

Happy Holidays!

  8. You didn't need to go thru your supplies. The nail polish gave a nice finish.

Next time my husband complains about the yarn, I'm going to mention the size of your stash. Mine seems modest in comparison, heh heh heh.

    1. LOL My husband doesn't complain about my yarn stash anymore. I think he has given up, and I think my Rae Dunn collection is more concerning for him because it takes up several of the kitchen cabinets. And he gets yelled at for putting certain pieces in the dishwasher. lol
