Hoppy Easter Crochet Socks

My goal for this year is to make things I've never made before, so here are my first pair of crochet socks! Since Easter is just around the corner, I decided to make my socks using pretty pastel colors from Caron Simply Soft. I love the softness of the yarn and all fun colors that are available with this brand. The colors I used are Strawberry, Robins Egg, Sunshine, Soft Orchid, Soft Green, and White. I've never made socks before, so I downloaded a pattern from Etsy (I didn't follow the pattern exactly, so my socks look different from the ones on Etsy). I've included instructions for making the bunny appliques below.
I had a little bit of a difficult time deciding what colors to use, but I'm very pleased with my color choices. I really love the Strawberry, Robin's Egg, and White yarn together.

I made the heels and toes white.

I added bunnies! I made one with the Soft Green yarn and the other with the Soft Orchid yarn. (There's a pattern for making these bunnies below.)

These socks will keep my feet warm and cozy until the temperatures warm up.

When I finished the socks, I decided that they were missing something, so I decided to add crochet bunny appliques to them.

Instructions for the bunnies
  • magic circle, ch 2, 12 hdc inside magic circle, join.
  • ch 2, hdc in same st., 2 hdc in each hdc around. join.
  • ch 7, hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc down the chain, sl st to the circle
  • sl st in the next 3 sts.
  • ch 7, hdc in the 2nd ch from the hook, hdc down the chain, sl st to the circle. fasten off.
  • Use yarn knots to create the eyes and nose. Add whiskers using embroidery floss.
I had so much fun creating these socks, and I plan to make more for my family with different color combinations. I want to make some Frozen themed socks for my daughter, and she'd probably also like some with a Doc McStuffins or The Princess and the Frog theme. She's been making us watch The Princess and the Frog everyday, so I could make green socks with little froggies.

  4. These are beautiful, I've only tried making socks once as a teenager and they were such a disaster I only ever made one and hid it for years! Making socks is such a big trend now I really must get over my fear and have another go. I've pinned your super cute little rabbit too, thanks.
