Crochet Patchwork Heart

I've admired the Crochet Patchwork Hearts created by Vendulka of Magic With Hook and Needles for a while, so when I saw that the theme for the February Sustainable Craft Challenge was Heart, I knew this would be the perfect project for the challenge. I decided to crochet the heart using yarn that's already in my stash, and instead of using fiber fill, I'd stuff the heart with yarn scraps.

SUPPLIES:
sewing needle

These are some of the supplies I used to create the fun patchwork heart. Since only a small amount of yarn is used for this project, I searched my stash of small yarn balls left over from past projects.

I followed the Crochet Patchwork Heart pattern to crochet the front and back pieces. The pattern says to use a 3.0mm crochet hook, but I don't have a 3.0mm crochet hook in my favorite brand (Clover), so I used my 3.25mm crochet hook instead.

This is the front of the heart, and I crocheted it with Caron Simply Soft Robin's EggCaron Simply Soft Off WhiteCaron Simply Soft Strawberry, and Caron Simply Soft Ocean

I used my yarn needle to stitch on some Xs with Caron Simply Soft Harvest Red.

Next, I used clear nylon thread to sew on some blue sequins.

Then I used the clear nylon thread again to sew on some red glass seed beads. Then I had to choose a wooden button to add to the heart. I have so many!

After selecting a unique wooden button, I sewed it onto the heart. Then, I followed the pattern to crochet the string for hanging the heart. I used the pink and white yarn.

Next, I crocheted the front and back of the heart together with the Caron Simply Soft Harvest Red yarn.

I stuffed the heart with yarn scraps and then stitched it closed.

All done!

The heart is complete and hanging from a knob on my hutch.

Thanks so much for stopping by to check out my Crochet Patchwork Heart, which I'm sharing for the February Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop! The purpose of the Sustainable Craft Challenge Blog Hop (hosted by Julie @ Sum of Their Stories) is to create a sustainable/eco-friendly craft project. This month's theme is Heart🩷, so I crocheted a heart using yarn already in my stash, and I filled it with yarn scraps, so that no yarn is wasted! Anyhoo, I hope you'll visit the other participants' crafty, eco-friendly heart creations below! ↓
