Lorelei Fringed Super Scarf

Welcome to the January Sustainable Pinterest Challenge hosted by Julie from Sum of Their Stories & Gail from Purple Hues and Me. For this month's challenge, we are shopping our craft supply stashes to recreate something were were inspired by on Pinterest.  A couple years ago, I stumbled upon a pin of the Lorelei Super Scarf (by Lion Brand Yarn), and I bought the yarn.... But I never got around to making it until now! I recently organized some of my yarn stash into a shelf, and I included the Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick on one of these shelves because I wanted it where I can easily see it to remind me to make this scarf soon!

Here's my yarn shelf in my craft room, and I've circled the Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick (Fisherman)  I had 6 skeins of this yarn, and I used 5. I may use the remaining skein to make an ear warmer to match the scarf.

To create this scarf, I followed the Lorelei Fringed Super Scarf pattern (by Lion Brand). This pattern is easy and works up very fast, especially since Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick is a bulky yarn. The pattern says to use a size N crochet hook, but I used a M crochet hook instead.  I used about 5 skeins of the Lion Brand Wool Ease Thick and Quick (Fisherman) yarn.

I really love this pattern.

The scarf is 108 inches long (without fringe). After I was done crocheting, it was time to add the fringe.

I like to use my rotary cutter to cut fringe.

For this scarf, fringe is added to each end of the scarf, as well as randomly throughout the scarf. That's what makes it really fun!

Fringe is added throughout the scarf.

Since this scarf is made with chunky yarn, and the pattern is easy to memorize once you get going, it only took a couple days to make this massive scarf.

This scarf was really fun to make, and if you'd like to make your own, check out this pin Lorelei Super Scarf (by Lion Brand Yarn) to download the free pattern.
