Crochet Christmas Baubles

Welcome to the Craft Room De-Stash Challenge! My blogging friends and I are sharing projects we created using craft supplies already in our craft supply stashes. Since Christmas is quickly approaching, I decided that crocheting Christmas baubles would be an awesome way to use up some of my yarn stash.  I am so excited for this time of year that I put up my Christmas tree yesterday, and I can't wait to decorate it with these colorful baubles I've been making. So far, I've made twelve, and I have some listed in my Etsy shop.
I gathered a bunch of skeins and balls of Caron Simply Soft yarn. I started with these colors and grabbed more from my stash later.

I bought a bunch of clear, plastic ornaments

I crocheted the baubles by following the Crochet Christmas Baubles pattern in the book Boho Crochet.

I crocheted with a 3.5 mm crochet hook. I made a couple ornaments with metallic gold yarn that's been in my stash for a while. I had 3 balls of it, and I actually finished off one, so now I have two. I'll probably use those up creating more baubles. The metallic gold yarn is perfect for Christmas ornaments.

These baubles are made by crocheting two halves of a ball. Then you stitch them together around the plastic ornament.

I used a large yarn needle to sew the two halves together around the plastic ornament.

These baubles work up really fast, especially when you've got a good cup of coffee fueling you.

So far, I've crocheted twelve baubles. I still have plenty of plastic ornaments, so I'm definitely making more. I love crocheting with the bright and fun colors! I can't wait to decorate my craft room Christmas tree with these.

Thanks so much for stopping by and checking out my crochet Christmas Baubles! Scroll down to see my friends' crafty creations!

  1. I love these crochet baubles. I made some similar myself a few years ago and absolutely loved the process, especially sewing them onto the baubles, it felt quite magically somehow! I Keep thinking I'll make some to add to Christmas gifts to make them look special but end up keeping them all for myself!
