Caravan Sewing Machine Cover

Now that I have my craft room organized again, I can share my caravan sewing machine cover that I finally made for my Brother sewing machine. I used my new favorite fabric, Vintage Desktop, so my sewing machine cover matches the theme of my craft room. I've seen several really cute caravan sewing machine covers, and I was inspired to make my own.

For the white part of the cover, I used a white crib sheet, but I think I should've used a different fabric because it's soooooooo wrinkly. No matter how much I iron it, the wrinkles remain. Otherwise, I'm pretty pleased with the cover, especially since I made it without using a pattern. Oh, and it's reversible. The other side is just the Vintage Desktop fabric.

The cover is reversible, but I'm sure I'll have the caravan side showing all the time, so this is basically the liner.

I used two layers of batting for this project.

Both sides of the caravan have a window and a door. The front and back just have a window. I recently ordered a package of vintage buttons, and I used a few for the door knobs and to button on the handle on top of the cover. I recently ordered these sewing clips, and I LOVE using them!

I added a "license plate" to the back of the caravan. I used bias tape to finish off the bottom and to sew the liner and outside together.

My caravan sewing machine cover has a handle, pennant banner, a door, windows, and wheels.

Now my Brother sewing machine is protected from dust bunnies, and I think he's warm and cozy in there, too!
