Crochet Granny Square Pillow

I'm in the process of crocheting throw pillows to jazz up the futon in the kids' playroom and for my bedroom. This is the first pillow I've finished, and I'm very pleased with it. I used the join as you go method to join all the granny squares, and this was my first time using that method, and I am very pleased! I will be joining my squares like this from now on! It's so much better than stitching them all together with yarn and a yarn needle like I've been doing all these years.
Before I started on the pillow, I had to figure out a color scheme. I have so may skeins of yarn in various colors...  So one day, I opened my wardrobe where I store my yarn and fabric, and I found some minky fabric that I used to create a hoodie for my daughter, and I decided to use the same colors of that fabric.

I made a minky hoodie for my daughter a couple years ago using this fabric.

The yarns I used for this pillow are Caron Simply Soft's Off White, Autumn Red, Soft Green, Ocean, Sunshine, and Blue MintEach side of the pillow has 16 squares. I used the join as you go method.

After I finished all the squares for both side of the pillow, I joined both side together, made a border around the squares, and stitched the two sides together around a pillow form.

I love this color scheme!

Now that I've completed my first crochet pillow, I can't wait to crochet more! And I really need to create something with this lovely minky fabric!
