Playful Ripple Baby Blanket

I’m so excited that this is my first time participating in the Craft Room De-stash Challenge! Every month, a group of bloggers challenge each other to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Check out some awesome creations you might be able to make from your own stash! #CraftRoomDestashChallenge

For this month's challenge, I'm sharing a crochet baby blanket I recently finished using yarn that I already had in my massive stash! I recently did an inventory of all my yarn... all 702 skeins of it! So anyhoo, the mommy-to-be is having a gender reveal party next weekend, so since I don't know the gender of the baby, I kept the blanket gender neutral. That was especially easy since the mommy loves Tinkerbell, and the colors I used for the blanket are Tinkerbell colors... but this color combo also reminds me of a pineapple!🍍

SUPPLIES:
Caron Simply Soft Sunshine (2)
Caron Simply Soft Limelight (2)
Caron Simply Soft White (2)
Size H/5mm crochet hook
Playful Ripple Crochet Pattern
stitch marker

The pattern for this blanket can be found in the Leisure Arts crochet pattern book Sweet Stripes for Baby.

For this project, I used Caron Simply Soft yarn because it's soft and comes in so many bright and fun colors. The colors I used are Caron Simply Soft SunshineCaron Simply Soft Limelight, and Caron Simply Soft White. I used about two skeins of each color.

As the end of the skein nears, I find it's easier to wind the yarn into balls. I had a tangled mess of yarn for a bit.

Luckily, I already had enough skeins of these yarns in my stash, so whenever a skein ended, I just grabbed another.

With this pattern, it is very important to count your stitches! I ended up having to frog🐸 about 10 rows because I wasn't counting, and I had way too many stitches, which was very noticeable.

All done! This baby blanket measures about 34" x 43".

Once all the crocheting was done, I blocked the blanket with my new blocking mats and blocking pins kits to make it more even.

🍍Pineapples!🍍

Now, the blanket is ready to go to its new home.

    1. Thanks Gail! And I only used 6 skeins to make this blanket, and the yarn count was 702 after I made this blanket. I've gotta stay out of the yarn stores! lol

  5. Love the colors and the different stitches for forming the zig zags. I can see where it would be important to keep track of placing the decreases and increases in the right spots! Next time my husband complains about all the yarn I have, I'm going to mention your 702 skeins hahaha.

    1. LOL Before I counted my yarn, my mom and I guessed how much I had. She said 500. I thought I only had about 200. When I look at my yarn, I don't think I have that much. But I counted it... I need to stay away from the yarn stores... and their websites! lol
